Role
Under direct supervision, performs health-related work of moderate difficulty assisting the healthcare provider in the clinic setting.
1 or more years' experience using NextGen.
Familiar with FQHC program operations.
Major Duties, Responsibilities Collects, documents, and prepares patient and associated health information for meeting with the healthcare provider including rooming and exiting protocols.

Triages patient inquiries for medical issues and questions for healthcare providers.
Completes and submits appropriate forms for prior authorization of medications prescribed by the health care provider.
Conveys clinical information to patients on behalf of the provider after receiving specific instructions in areas such as taking medications, special diets, and laboratory tests.
Performs basic in-house laboratory tests including finger stick glucose, hemoglobin A1C, dipstick urinalysis, rapid test for strep infections, and venipunctures.
Assures quality assurance in the CLIA-waived clinic laboratory.
Stocks, supplies, and sanitizes rooms after visits.
Assists with monthly inventory ordering and organization of supplies.
Administers medication, immunizations, and treatment to patients as directed by the health care provider.
Assists with training back-office staff.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience as a medical assistant to include a minimum of one (1) year working in three (3) different disciplines, such as Primary Care/Family Medicine, Pediatrics, or Reproductive Health.
Additional Requirements: Must possess Medical Assistant Certification from an approved Medical Assistant training program .
Must obtain Basic Life Support for the Health Care Professionals within three (3) months of hire.
Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.

Chronic medical conditions, current health care methods, and practices.

Ability to: Use appropriate professional judgement, identify, and resolve problems independently.
Prioritize work, meet deadlines, efficiently manage time.
Understand health care concepts pertinent to work requirements and provide accurate and thorough teaching to patients as directed by the health care provider.
Recognize and report a patient's health status accurately.
Maintain public trust by honoring patient confidentiality at all times.
Travel between all Community Health Center of Yavapai clinic locations to provide staffing coverage when needed.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, employees of other departments, representatives of other organizations, County officials, and the public.
Keep management informed of key operating issues affecting the department.
Remain current in knowledge required to perform assigned duties.
Handle confidential matters and maintain discretion always.
Act with courtesy, tact, and diplomacy.
Work Environment: The work involves potential exposure to infections, contagious diseases and blood borne pathogens.
Clinical staff are required to use appropriate protective equipment.
Subject to varying and unpredictable situations.
Physical Requirements: Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
Sufficient vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech ability to communicate effective in-person and telephonically.
Capable of frequent repetitive movement of arms, fingers, and wrists.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
