*Job Title: Hospitalist or Nocturnist Physician* *Job Description:* *Position Overview:* We are seeking a qualified and experienced Hospitalist or Nocturnist Physician to provide performance-based outpatient and inpatient services for the Indian Health Service at the Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility (CCHCF).
The candidate will be responsible for delivering uninterrupted and high-quality patient care, adhering to medical standards, and working collaboratively with the healthcare team.
*Responsibilities:* *1.
Hospitalist or Nocturnist Duties:* * Provide professional medical services and direct patient care in accordance with established standards and policies.
* Conduct patient interviews, examinations, and order/perform diagnostic tests.
* Make preliminary and comprehensive diagnoses, prescribe treatments, and arrange for specialized care or referrals.
* Care for patients in various units, including Urgent Care, Emergency Room, Inpatient Wards, Adult Care Unit (ACU), Special Care Unit (SCU), Pediatric Care Unit (PCU), and Nursery.
* Coordinate care with specialists both within and outside of the Indian Health Service.

Patient Care Coordination:* * Make appropriate referrals and obtain necessary consultations after primary evaluation.
* Work closely with allied health professionals to manage medical, psychological, and social problems of patients.
* Ensure timely follow-up care for referred patients.

Documentation and Reporting:* * Utilize the CCHCF's Electronic Health Record (EHR) system for documenting patient care.
* Provide appropriate and timely clinical data reports in compliance with Joint Commission standards.
*4.
Cultural Awareness:* * Be familiar with the cultural, social, and demographic characteristics of patients and communities served.
* Embrace and incorporate traditional medicines and ceremonies into patient care for positive outcomes.
*5.
Administrative and Reporting:* * Participate in peer reviews as per Joint Commission standards.
* Adhere to safety management reporting requirements.
* Submit proper invoices and timesheets for payment of services rendered.
* Work collaboratively with the Primary Care Director and other designated authorities to ensure smooth operations.

Work Schedule:* * Work shifts as arranged by the Primary Care Director, covering 84 hours per week with a 7 days on and 7 days off schedule.
* Be flexible to work longer/overtime hours based on workload and patient load demands.

Qualification Requirements:* * Completed 36 months of Family Practice or Internal Medicine Residency Training.
* Board certified or board eligible with the American Board of Internal Medicine or American Board of Family Practice.
* Maintain necessary licenses, certifications, and immunizations.
* Possess basic knowledge of information technology and computer skills.

Period of Performance:* * Flexibility for short-term (13 weeks), long-term (1-3 years), and intermittent support as needed.

Evaluation and Reporting:* * Performance will be evaluated according to the standards set forth in the contract and Performance-Based Matrix.
* Compliance with all relevant regulations, including HIPAA, Privacy Act, and IHS policies.

Language Requirements:* * Ability to read, understand, speak, and write English effectively to communicate with patients and healthcare workers.
* Respectful of the local, American Indian, and Alaska Native culture.
*11.
General Requirements:* * Wear a government-issued identification badge during duty.
* Adhere to all relevant federal and locally required Information Technology security requirements.
*12.
Orientation and Training:* * Attend mandatory orientations and training specified by the government.
