Responsibilities: Operations Management: Monitor, review and undertake corrective actions regards all plant activities including production operations, maintenance activities and quality controls.
Assist in establishing and follow up on implementation of plant standards, short-term goals and long-term strategic plans.
Help manage all related production/maintenance processes including but not limited to product and raw materials inventories, manpower assessment and allocation and resource forecasting.
Assumes full responsibility for the plant in the Plant Manager's absence.
Cost Management: Assist the Plant Manager with budget development and cost manage activities.
Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiencies, track improvement progress and quantify financial impacts.
Monitor and analyze plant costs.
Optimize plant fixed costs and variable costs effectively with proper effective management techniques.
Develop capital expenditure documentation and follow progress of capital projects.
Personnel Management: Provide leadership and support for all the direct reports.
Work with department supervision and HR to develop and implement training programs to facility policy changes and improve individual skills.
Safety and Environmental Work with EHS supervision to promote safe work practices.
Support safe practices including but not limited to making sure all work is preceded with a Job Hazard Assessment, work orders address possible safety hazards and that all lock out procedures are strictly followed.
Promote all MSHA, UNACEM and Arizona State safety programs and policies.
Ensure environmental compliance, manage emissions, and conduct clean plant operations.
Work with environmental personnel to develop and manage emissions testing and compliance.
Assist with MSHA and Arizona State mine inspections.
External Stakeholdership: Assist with various stakeholders including government agencies concerning plant activities.
Assist with community events and activities.
Work with marketing and quality control departments to assist with sales and product quality issues.
Internal Stakeholdership: Collaborate with production, maintenance and quality control management to effectively optimize the overall business operations.
Monitor and support daily plant activities.
Work with department management to create capital expenditure requests, coordinating on new project engineering, safeguarding assets, etc.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: A bachelor's degree in technical/engineering area such as Chemical / Mechanical / Industrial / Production Engineering or Technology A Graduate degree is preferred but not required.
8 years in a leadership role in (Cement / Lime / Mineral processing).
5-10 years in the cement industry.
Operations management of large industrial facilities.
