The Inpatient Medical Director (IMD) is the physician leader whose duties encompass all Polara inpatient functions, clinically overseeing all inpatient providers’ (physicians and advanced practice providers) practice.
The IMD role is to assure that clinical and safety outcomes meet organizational goals.
Also, the IMD will continue to maintain a psychiatry practice appropriately balanced with administrative duties.
As member of the Polara Health Medical Group (PHMG) Council, the IMD will play a role in Medical Staff functions (see below).
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Partner with the Chief Physician Executive as it relates Medical Staff functions including reviewing medical staff membership processes, credentialing, privileging, and peer review.
Oversee and manage inpatient providers’ practices monitoring quality, productivity, efficiency, and engagement.
Assure the inpatient Medical Staff providers are compliant with all regulations and accreditation elements of performance.
Active participation in all accreditation activities and surveys related to the Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies.
Regularly update inpatient providers and other clinical staff on best practices for safe quality client/patient care through education and an influence model.
Serve as a change agent in order to meet strategic goals.
Be the “voice” of the inpatient providers in settings where appropriate, while at the same time support all senior leadership decisions that may affect inpatient operations.
Works with the Outpatient Medical Director to assure the inpatient and ambulatory practices are aligned with PHMG goals.
Maintain Polara Health Medical Staff membership.
Graduation from an accredited medical school recognized by the Arizona medical boards (MD or DO).
Completion of an accredited residency in Psychiatry.
Board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
Active Arizona license to practice medicine.
Active DEA certificate.
Eligible for Polara Health Medical Staff membership.
One year of prior experience in a physician leadership role.
An advanced degree or training in leadership and administration a plus.
