PRESCOTT HISTORICAL SOCIETY The Sharlot Hall Museum is an open-air museum and heritage site located in Prescott, Arizona.
Opened in 1928 by Sharlot M.
Hall as the Gubernatorial Mansion Museum, the museum that now bears her name is dedicated to preserving the history and culture of the Central Highlands of Arizona.
The Museum features eleven exhibit buildings (six of which are historic), compelling exhibits, and beautiful gardens, which serve as the setting for numerous public festivals and events.

00 Grade: 19 This position will remain open until filled Job Summary: The education program coordinator is responsible for coordinating the museum's volunteer program and supporting educational programming.
The position recruits, orients, and schedules volunteers and assists in the planning and implementation of the annual Volunteer Training Program.
The education assistant also assists in designing and implementing the museum's educational programs (K-12, youth, family, and adult) as well as the museum's Tour Program.
Job Duties: • Recruit, interview, train, place, and schedule volunteers as docents in the exhibit buildings, for educational programs and events, training, as well as in relevant museum-wide activities • Assist in the design, coordination, and implementation of the annual Volunteer Training program and updating of Volunteer Training material • Maintain volunteer information in appropriate databases • Prepare, edit, and distribute monthly volunteer newsletter • Assist with developing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs and events • Assist with designing and coordinating youth, school, and adult museum tours • Develop and/or identify resources for educational programming, exhibits, and outreach • Serve as staff advisor to the Volunteer Advisory Council.
Assist in the planning, coordinating, and advertising of various volunteer functions throughout the year • Sub as a docent when needed • Community outreach (lectures, discussions, demonstrations, etc.
) • Assist with special events, programs, and fundraisers as needed Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs): Knowledge: • Familiar with digital technologies (ex: websites), platforms, and tools • Proficient in using database systems and computer software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Google Workspace) • Comfortable with using a range of audio-visual equipment, including computers, microphones, and PowerPoint set-up for lectures, workshops, and presentations • Strong historical research skills and knowledge of museum education best practices • Familiar with concepts, methods, and practices of contemporary education and Arizona K-12 classroom curricula and general knowledge of Arizona History Skills: • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Comfortable with using a range of audio-visual equipment, including computers, microphones, and PowerPoint set-up for lectures, workshops, and presentations • Excellent time management skills Abilities: • Engage and connect with people from a variety of backgrounds • Organized, flexible, proactive, and self-directed • Handle multiple projects and tasks Pre-Employment Requirements: • A bachelor's degree in a history or social sciences-related field and 2 years experience in supervising and managing volunteers and developing museum programs • If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business, then the following requirements apply: Driver’s License Requirements.
