ANTIQUE BRUSH W37 SITTING PIG COOKIE JAR: George Brush began his career in the pottery industry in 1901 and then in 1909 associated himself with J.
W.
McCoy as the Brush-McCoy Pottery Company.
The era of hand-decorated art pottery had passed for the most part and was soon replaced by the production of commercial lines.
Of all the wares bearing the later Brush script mark, their figural cookie jars are the most collectible - written by Schroeder's Antiques.
This Sitting Pig cookie jar was made in approximately 1966, and is in very good condition other than a chip on his left ear, which you can see in the pictures.
In 1996, it was appraised at $465.
00.
I'm asking $175.
00 or reasonable offer.
ANTIQUE OAK ROCKING CHAIR: This antique golden tiger oak rocking chair is in good condition and we had a custom seat cushion made to go with it, which also protects it.
I have had this for nearly 30 years, but am unsure of the age of it.
I'm asking $200.
00 or reasonable offer.
ANTIQUE GLASS FIRE EXTINGUISHER: The first patent for a glass fire grenade was granted in 1863 to Alanson Crane, and the use of these extinguishers quickly spread throughout public and private buildings alike.
Typically, these glass bottles were filled with a tetrachloride or salt mixture that would explode when thrown into a fire, ostensibly to quench the flames.
Bottle shapes and colors varied widely, ranging from a half-pint to two-quart size, with pint and quart sizes being the most common.
Most glass fire grenades were spherical, with a short bottle neck and a cement seal to prevent evaporation; they were wall-mounted using simple wire loops.
Experts still debate whether these fire grenades actually worked or simply gave building owners a false sense of security.
This glass fire extinguisher came off my husband's grandfather's farm in Texas.
It has seen better days and has paint splattered on it.
However, it has the original liquid still contained within it without any cracks or chips.
It measures approximately 10 1/2" long and 5" wide.
This would make an interesting conversation piece or collectible for the fire fighters.
I'm asking $25.
00.
VINTAGE WASH STAND: We are also told this is correctly called a Shaving Stand.
We don't know a lot about it other than it is very pretty and everything is there and in really good condition.
We bought it at an estate sale and now I'm trying to downsize what is in our house.
I'm asking $60.
00 or reasonable offer.
These items are in a non-smoking home.
I can email more photos if needed.
Because of all the scams these days, you can contact me through Craigslist email.
I'm not giving out my phone number.
Thank you for looking.
