Vintage Antique 1800's? Glazed Ceramic Jug Pot Staple Repaired Pottery Vase.
I have no historical information on this piece, or certainty of its age.
What I do know, is the following:
The hole in the bottom was made to convert the pot to a lamp.
It was mounted onto a wood base.
There are several other cracks, in addition to the one repaired with staples.
Staple repairs were common during the 1800's, prior to the advent of adhesives.
The pot sounds fairly solid when tapping on it, despite the number of cracks.
There are also fine scratches throughout the high gloss finish.
Approximate dimensions:
19" tall
11" max diameter
The colors vary from brown and green, to a brownish mustard.
The last 4 images include 2 of the interior, near the bottom, and 2 images of the exterior bottom, where it sort of looks like some writing, but I cannot make out what it says.
Any questions, please ask.
