Own a piece of history.
1940s vintage telephone Private Branch Exchange (PBX) system manufactured by the Automatic Electric Company in Chicago, IL.
Based on the area code, this switch was used in LaPorte, IN.
This system was designed for a small business to interconnect 48 internal lines to 12 outside lines.
The operator used the front panel switches to make connections between inside lines and outside lines.
When designed, it was referred to as a "cordless PBX" because the operator was not required to use cords to interconnect the callers.
The switch was designed to stand on a desk top.

The top, back and sides are made from hardwood and the unit could be used as a unique end table or coffee table.
The legs are currently an antique Singer sewing machine frame.
Dimensions of the switch alone are: 31x14x14 Price is negotiable and can be sold with or without the stand.
